It was a brilliant advertising slogan, from another era. As someone who’s been in the vo game for 20 years, I’m vividly aware that ultimately, change is the only constant. However, some questions do remain the same. What is authentic, what is true, and with vo, how to voice it.
The notion of reinvention, upcycling, of turning dross into gold utterly fascinates me, whether it’s personally or professionally. When I upcycle clothing, I retain what I love and alter the rest to suit my current life. In the process, I think about whether the garment reflects who I am on the inside. Is it an authentic statement or merely superficial? Sometimes it’s just a nice try and other times it resonates deeply.
Creating this new website involved a similar process and let me tell you, working with Celia Siegel was a JOY!! She understands authenticity, alchemy, and BRANDING. Because of her, I now understand the freedom that comes from having an authentic brand. Now I can talk about all the stuff I love.
Welcome to my blog, a little corner of the world where I can even talk about voiceover.
Until next time. …………J.
